United Airlines: Flight from London Heathrow to San Francisco turns around

More than 200 passengers aboard a United Airlines Boeing 777 scheduled to depart from London Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom for San Francisco suffered an unusual delay after being grounded for more than 24 hours at the London airport.

United Airlines flight UA949, operated by a Boeing 777, departed the UK capital yesterday at 12:45 PM, but was unable to reach its final destination and turned back due to smoke coming from the aircraft’s galley. The problem was not resolved and the US carrier ultimately decided to cancel the flight.

The flight will operate late today

According to FlightRadar, flight UA949 is scheduled to depart London for San Francisco today at 8:50 PM.

The passengers were picked up by United Airlines and accommodated in a hotel near the airport.

Another United Airlines flight turns back

This incident is the second in recent days involving United Airlines, following the one that occurred on flight UA108 from Washington Dulles to Munich, due to a technical problem affecting the Boeing 787-8.
