What is American Airlines Same Day Flight Change?
This service, offered exclusively by AA allows you to change your flight time on the same day.
Please note:
The new flight must be:
– Operated exclusively by American Airlines or American Eagle
– Scheduled to depart from the same airport and travel to the same destination.
The key differences between American Airlines’ Same Day Flight Change and Same Day Standby services:
American Airlines’ Same Day Standby is very similar to its Same Day Flight Change service. However, the former allows for a free schedule change, but the passenger is placed on a standby list, while Same Day Flight Standby offers a confirmed reservation for a fee.

It is important to note that the same-day flight change service is not permitted on bookings made with the Basic Economy fare.
American Airlines Same-Day Travel refund policy
A refund request for the fees associated with booking this service can be submitted to American Airlines if the airline:
– is unable to assign a seat on the rescheduled flight at the chosen time;
– cancels or delays the new flight, resulting in a missed connection.
