TrueBlue: Everything you need to know about JetBlue’s loyalty program

TrueBlue is JetBlue’s loyalty program. Enrollment is free and can be done via the JetBlue.com website or the mobile app. Once a member, you can earn points by flying, paying with a co-branded card, or using partner services. Points can then be redeemed for tickets or travel extras.

The program relies on two separate tracking metrics, which often confuses beginners:

– TrueBlue points are the currency: you earn them and then redeem them.
– Tiles measure member loyalty: they serve solely to unlock perks and elite status, known as Mosaic.

Points and tiles are both earned on the same purchase, but they never convert into one another.

How do I sign up for JetBlue TrueBlue?

1. Visit the official website. Go to jetblue.com.

2. Locate the sign-in button. Click “Sign in” at the top right of the homepage. A small menu will appear.

3. Select “Join now.” This option initiates the creation of a new account instead of logging into an existing one.

4. Fill out the form. You will be asked for personal details such as your name, date of birth, contact information, and a password. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your passport; any discrepancy could complicate check-in on the day of departure.

5. Click “Sign up” to submit. Your account is created, and JetBlue assigns you a TrueBlue number (check your email). Make a note of it; this is the ID you will use to log in and earn points.

After signing up:

Add your number to every booking. Without it, points for a flight will not be added to your account.

Check current offers. Welcome bonuses are sometimes available to new members who fly within a certain timeframe.

Take advantage of partner airline flights. Certain flights operated by other carriers can also earn you TrueBlue points.

Use associated programs. Once you are a member, you can earn points by shopping online or dining at participating restaurants.

About Mosaic Status:

Mosaic is the elite status tier of the JetBlue loyalty program. It is based on a unit of measurement called “tiles,” which JetBlue uses to gauge member loyalty over the course of a given year.

Unlike points – which you use to book flights – tiles (qualifying points) are never spent; they serve solely to determine your status level.

Tiles can be earned in three main ways:

  • By flying: Tiles are earned based on the ticket price of JetBlue-operated flights. Every $100 = 1 tile.
  • Through partner purchases: Such as hotels, car rentals, and cruises. Every $100 = 1 tile.
  • Through everyday spending: JetBlue co-branded credit cards allow you to earn additional tiles on purchases made with the card. Every $1,000 = 1 tile.

The Four Mosaic Tiers

The Mosaic program consists of four tiers, each reached by hitting a specific tile threshold:

Mosaic 1: 50 tiles
Mosaic 2: 100 tiles
Mosaic 3: 150 tiles
Mosaic 4: 250 tiles

Mosaic 1 and 2 members earn 9 points per dollar.
Mosaic 3 members earn 10 points per dollar.
Mosaic 4 members earn 11 points per dollar.

Expiration of TrueBlue points and Mosaic tiles

Les points TrueBlue, qui jouent le rôle de « miles » chez JetBlue, n’expirent pas : vous pouvez les accumuler sans limite de durée et les utiliser pour des vols futurs

As for the “tiles” that provide access to Mosaic status, JetBlue has extended their validity period indefinitely : your status is now valid until January 31 of the year following the one originally scheduled. For example, if you earn 50 tiles in 2026, you retain Mosaic 1 status until January 31, 2028.

How to earn TrueBlue points?

By flying with JetBlue:

The number of points earned depends on the ticket price and the booking method. Booking directly on jetblue.com or via the app yields more points than using an online travel agency. Your Mosaic status level then adds a bonus based on the amount spent.

Point sharing allows members to combine their balances. “Points On Repeat” subscriptions: for a fixed monthly fee, the member receives points each month. Three plans are available: Points Traveler ($13), Points Adventurer ($32.50), and Points Trailblazer ($67.75).

About TrueBlue Subscriptions

JetBlue allows TrueBlue members to purchase a subscription to boost their point balances.

These subscriptions, dubbed “Points On Repeat,” automatically deposit TrueBlue points into the member’s account each month. Monthly rates range from $13 to $67.75, depending on the plan, with payment options available on a monthly or annual basis.

There are three tiers: Points Traveler, Points Adventurer, and Points Trailblazer.

Points earned through the subscription never expire, are not subject to any blackout dates, and can be pooled with family and friends.

JetBlue Plus, Premier, or Business cardholders can combine their card bonus with the subscription bonus to get back up to 20% of their points after a points booking.

What are TrueBlue points worth?

The value of a booking is calculated using this formula: (ticket price in cash – taxes paid in cash) ÷ number of points × 100. This gives the value in cents per point for your specific flight.

How to redeem TrueBlue points

TrueBlue points are easier to use than those of most airline loyalty programs. There are no complex award charts to decipher. However, you do need to distinguish between a good redemption and a bad one; that is the difference between a nearly free flight and a poor use of points.

Award flights on JetBlue

With JetBlue, the number of points required is tied to the ticket price in dollars. When the cash fare drops, fewer points are needed, and vice versa.

In practice, the best approach is to run two searches for the same flight – one for cash and one for points – and then compare the prices.

Cash + Points

This option allows you to pay for part of the ticket with points and the rest with cash. It is convenient when your balance doesn’t cover the entire flight. Two limitations to note: it is not available for Blue Basic fares, and flights on partner airlines do not allow for partial payment with points.

Mint cabin tickets can offer great value, though the return is less consistent than in economy class. During peak periods or in premium cabins, the points price tends to align more closely with the cash price, resulting in a value of around 1 cent per point. Therefore, do not book Mint using points without first comparing it to the cash fare for the same day.

Flights on United

As part of the “Blue Sky” partnership between JetBlue and United Airlines, TrueBlue members can book United-operated flights across its global network. JetBlue notes that these flights serve destinations across six continents, including locations not otherwise served by the airline.

A few key details:

– You can search on jetblue.com or in the app by selecting the “points” option; eligible United flights will then appear in the results
– TrueBlue points cannot be transferred to United MileagePlus
– Award seats (booked with points) are limited in number and scarce on high-demand flights
– Checked baggage and paid seat selections must be paid for on united.com
– United flights follow their own points-based pricing.

Seat reservations and more

You can use TrueBlue points to book travel extras such as seats, checked and excess baggage, pet transport fees, and priority access at certain airports.
