Canceling a Hawaiian Airlines ticket is simple, but what you get back depends primarily on the fare class selected at the time of purchase and when you cancel.

How to cancel a Hawaiian Airlines flight reservation
Online: Log in to HawaiianAirlines.com, view your booking under “Manage Trip,” and select the cancellation option if your fare allows it.
By phone: You can reach the Reservations department at 1-800-367-5320.
Via an agency or third-party site: Hawaiian cannot modify a reservation that was not purchased directly from them. You must go through the intermediary to complete the process.
Cancellation fees charged by Hawaiian Airlines:
| Fare | Cancellation before departure |
| Main Cabin Basic (Saver) | Non-changeable and non-refundable, except for cancellations within 24 hours of purchase.
Or It entitles the holder to a 50% travel credit for a future trip, but only in the event of cancellation at least 14 days prior to the departure of the first flight. |
| Main Cabin / Main Preferred / Extra Comfort | There are no cancellation or change fees for Main Cabin fares and above. However, the ticket is not necessarily refunded in cash; Hawaiian Airlines may offer the passenger a travel credit. |
| Refundable Main Cabin | Fully refundable, including paid options, if the passenger cancels before the original flight’s departure. |
| First / Business | Same principles as Main Cabin |
| Award Ticket | Hawaiian Airlines has permanently eliminated change and redeposit fees for tickets booked with miles (HawaiianMiles).
Government taxes are paid in cash ($5.60 for flights to the United States and $60 to $200 for international flights). |
Please note:
In the event of a flight change, the passenger must pay any applicable price difference. If the new fare is lower, the price difference is neither refunded nor credited.
A refundable ticket becomes non-refundable if the passenger fails to cancel it before the departure of the first flight. Cancellations must therefore always be made in advance to avoid “no-show” status.
Tickets purchased with miles are subject to specific rules, including fees for redepositing the miles.
The 24-hour rule
This is the only way to obtain a full refund for a non-refundable Hawaiian Airlines ticket. The following conditions apply:
– the cancellation is made within 24 hours of ticket purchase;
– departure is scheduled at least 7 days later;
– it applies to all fares, including Basic/Saver, and incurs no penalty.
Getting a refund
If the passenger cancels the flight:
– Refund to the original payment method within 7 to 21 business days
– Refundable fare: full refund
– Travel credit: Valid for one year.
Refund timeframes quoted by third-party sites vary (often one to two weeks). No official timeframe is guaranteed. If you do not receive the refund, you should contact Hawaiian Airlines customer service with your ticket number.
Flight cancellation due to an emergency
Death of a loved one: Hawaiian Airlines has a bereavement policy stating that if a passenger needs to change their booking due to the death of a family member (spouse, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, and nephews/nieces, this also applies to a travel companion on the same booking), they may obtain a waiver of change fees or a ticket refund if they ultimately cancel the reservation.

To do this, the passenger must provide the airline with a death certificate as supporting documentation, proof of the family relationship (such as a birth or marriage certificate), and a copy of the ticket.
Regarding processing time: expect a delay of up to 30 days to receive a refund.
If Hawaiian Airlines cancels or significantly changes the flight:
For flights involving the United States, DOT regulations generally allow you to choose between being rebooked on an alternative flight or receiving a refund if you decide not to travel. This also applies to significant schedule changes or substantial delays.
If you wish to receive a cash refund, you must specifically request it from Hawaiian Airlines, as a “travel credit” is often offered by default.
