Delta Air Lines has announced its intention to suspend its flight between Austin and Midland, one of the main airports in the state of Texas. The U.S. airline is considering ending its service to this airport due to a drop in demand recorded over several months.
The news was revealed by DAL, and confirmed by Robin Poole, Midland Airport Councilor, who stated: “Delta Air Lines will likely operate its last flight to our airport on November 8th.”
This decision by the American airline marks the culmination of a sharp drop in demand of more than 60% since the beginning of the year.
Until today, Delta Air Lines operated three flights per week on its route between Austin and Midland. According to the Street Journal, this, however, allowed Delta to offer connections to many U.S. destinations from Austin.
