Passengers on American Airlines flight AA221, which took off from Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport bound for Dallas Fort Worth, saw their plane divert to New York JFK.
The incident occurred yesterday, Saturday, at 11:33 a.m., when the Boeing 787-8 reached an altitude of 37,000 meters before changing direction and beginning to lose altitude, finally landing on Runway 22L at JFK Airport around 1:40 p.m.
Passengers were able to reboard their plane at 6:00 p.m., and the flight took off and landed at their final destination airport around 8:46 p.m.
The reasons for the diversion were not disclosed, but it was likely due to a technical issue.
Recalling that AA recorded a similar incident on July 30th when its flight from London Heathrow to New York JFK was forced to turn back due to a technical problem detected during the flight.
