United Airlines flight UA948, which took off from San Francisco (SFO) to London Heathrow (LHR) the day before yesterday, was forced to turn back an hour after takeoff.

One of the crew members on board the Boeing 777-200ER (N76021) informed passengers that due to a “technical problem” the aircraft had to return to San Francisco Airport.

“The captain, who noted a technical problem after the aircraft took off, decided to return to his point of departure”, emphasized the American airline’s communications department which nevertheless attempted to reassure passengers by emphasizing that all passengers on board were able to board the next flight, which departed later that evening.”

Passenger safety first

United Airlines used its mobile app to apologize to its passengers, sending them a message explaining the situation and citing a technical issue as the reason for the flight disruption, while emphasizing that the pilot’s decision was taken as a precautionary and safety measure.
