United Airlines: Passenger wanted to go to Nicaragua, ended up in Tokyo

In a rather unusual incident, a passenger who was supposed to fly to Nicaragua with United was surprised to find himself in Tokyo.

After a six-hour journey, the passenger, who had taken a United flight from Los Angeles to Houston and then on to Nicaragua, realized that his flight was going to land in Tokyo.

Experiencing this strange mishap, the passenger had to spend two days in the Japanese capital before being put on a flight to his actual destination.

Upon arrival, the traveler presented his ticket, valued at $655 USD, to United agents, along with receipts for expenses totaling $1,095, which covered his accommodation costs in Tokyo and other necessities.

The passenger received $1,000 in compensation in the form of travel credit.
