American Airlines unveils its new routes for summer 2027

Seven new routes and three new destinations are confirmed in AA’s upcoming summer schedule.

American Airlines has already unveiled its flight schedule for the upcoming summer season.

The Fort Worth-based airline intends to expand its premium offerings while providing new connections to Europe and Asia.

Three new routes from Philadelphia

The Philadelphia hub (PHL) will be the departure point for three major new routes to the network:

Vienna (VIE): American Airlines will become the only American carrier to connect the Austrian capital, with the first flight scheduled for May 6, 2027. This new service will complement the Central European network, already expanded this year with Prague and Budapest.

Porto (OPO): This service will be launched on March 28, a historic first for the airline to the Portuguese capital.

Reykjavik (KEF): American Airlines will return to the Icelandic capital for the first time since 2019. The inaugural flight is scheduled for May 27, coinciding with the growing popularity of Icelandic Coolcations.

Expanded european network:

Two new routes will launch this spring from New York-JFK. One to Amsterdam (Netherlands) starting March 28, complementing existing seasonal flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and year-round flights from Philadelphia, and another to Nice (France) starting May 6, providing direct access to the French Riviera from New York City.

Barcelona (Capital of Catalonia) is also becoming more accessible with flights from Charlotte, North Carolina, starting May 27.

AA’s schedule also includes a new daily service between JFK and London Heathrow, scheduled to begin on March 28, bringing the total number of daily flights between the two destinations to four. The new flight will be operated with a Boeing 787-9 equipped with Flagship Suite seats.

One new route in Asia:

In response to the growing demand for cherry blossom season, AA will offer a flight connecting Chicago to Tokyo-Narita starting March 19, with connections to Southeast Asia through its partnership with Japan Airlines.

Sales open at the end of the month:

American Airlines announced that tickets for all of these new routes will be available for purchase starting August 31 on aa.com or via the airline’s mobile app.

A golden opportunity to earn more miles:

Each of these new flights allows passengers to earn AAdvantage miles, both on tickets purchased directly and through partner credit cards. To estimate the value of your miles or anticipate how much these new trips could earn you, you can consult the AAdvantage miles calculator.
