American Airlines: Charlotte-Athens flights to resume in spring

American Airlines has decided to reinstate its long-haul flight between Charlotte Douglas and Athens.

Inaugurated last June, the route operated daily throughout the summer season and performed well. According to AA, this long-haul flight will be included in its summer schedule again. In its press release, the American carrier announced that this seasonal flight will officially resume on May 21, 2026, maintaining the same service schedule.

“After only three months since the launch of our service to Athens, we believe the Greek capital is an important destination. The load factor was high, reaching 90% of the total capacity of our 270-seat Boeing 777-200 aircraft operating on the route,” said Robert Isom, CEO of American Airlines.

The launch of this route promotes American Airlines’ position as a carrier between the United States and key European destinations.

“In fact, we are not only adding a new destination to our airline network, but we are also expanding our range of services by creating a new gateway between North America and Europe, with the hope of expanding this network to other major destinations on the continent,” he said.
