American Airlines: Retro-Livery 777-300ER at Heathrow

An American Airlines 777-300ER, sporting the classic silver livery and the “Flagship” marking on its fuselage, is seen lifting off from the runway at Heathrow. The photo has been circulating on social media this month. It appears at a time when the Fort Worth-based carrier – which is celebrating its centennial – is refurbishing its wide-body fleet.

The aircraft currently accommodates up to 304 passengers, including eight in Flagship First and 52 in business class. The renovated version of the 777-300ER will increase capacity to 330 seats: 70 Flagship Suites, 44 in premium economy, 30 in Main Cabin Extra, and 186 in economy class. American plans to retrofit 20 of its 777-300ERs by 2027. The suites feature a 1-2-1 configuration, and the First Class cabin is being eliminated entirely.
