American Airlines: Its plane narrowly avoids a collision with another aircraft

An American Airlines flight – number AA308 – scheduled to fly from Miami to Bermuda last Friday was forced to abort its takeoff after a business jet crossed the runway, coming within just 500 meters of the aircraft as it was taking off.

A nightmare scenario narrowly averted:

As an American Airlines A319 was preparing to take off for Bermuda, the pilot detected a private jet on the runway. The aircraft had crossed the taxiway without authorization from air traffic control.

But thanks to the pilot’s exemplary quick thinking and composure, the takeoff abort maneuver was successfully executed, averting what could have been a catastrophic collision.

American Airlines praises its pilots’ vigilance:

In a statement sent to FOX News Digital, AA paid tribute to the professionalism of its pilots: “Our pilots received clearance for takeoff but aborted it at the last minute. We thank them for their vigilance.”

Blame Directed at the Business Jet:

In the hours following the incident, questions arose about a possible failure on the part of air traffic controllers. However, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), whose statements were reported by FOX NEWS Digital, quickly clarified the circumstances of the incident: It was indeed the business jet that entered the runway without prior authorization. An official investigation was immediately launched.
