United Airlines is preparing to suspend its flights between Houston and Havana, a route that is no longer economically viable given the continued decline in demand over the past several months.
Indeed, the American airline has even set its last departure to Cuba for September 2, 2025.
This flight is currently served several times a week on board Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Two years ago, United Airlines suspended its flight to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport from Newark. However, the American carrier has no plans to suspend its charter service between Jacksonville (Florida) and Guantanamo (Cuba).
United Airlines is ready to return to the route
Indeed, the airline with the world’s largest fleet has not definitively ruled out a return to its Cuba route. However, according to the White House statement, this return will depend both on a significant recovery in demand and on the Cuban government’s efforts to comply with the political reforms demanded by the United States.
