As part of its participation in the Essential Air Service program, which subsidizes U.S. air carriers for the opening of air routes connecting rural or isolated areas in the United States, JetBlue Airways has submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to open a new route between Watertown and New York JFK.
JetBlue Airways will need DOT approval early next year to begin serving flights from Watertown, Massachusetts.
This scheduled flight will likely operate daily, as JetBlue Airways will face competition from American Airlines, which already serves flights from Watertown to New York JFK and Philadelphia.
Three new routes from Fort Lauderdale
JetBlue Airways is expanding its winter flight schedule and adding three new routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
