An American Airlines plane on a flight from Philadelphia to San Francisco turned back shortly after departure after a bird strike severely damaged its nose and other parts of the aircraft.
Flight AA2035 took off today at 7:00 a.m. from Philadelphia Airport bound for San Francisco. The pilot then turned around and returned to his point of departure, landing in Philadelphia without any reported injuries to passengers or crew members on board.
The damaged plane is reportedly awaiting replacement parts for its return; no information had been released at the time of writing regarding the fate of the passengers.
In a statement, AA announced: “Passengers deplaned normally and the pilot followed safety instructions from the control tower.”
Upon landing, the aircraft was inspected by AA’s maintenance team and was able to take off to its destination at 9:00 a.m, and regarding this, AA stated: “We can confirm that flight AA2035 reached its destination without any complications.”
