JetBlue Airways plans to launch two direct flights to Vero Beach from New York and Boston in December. However, the airline will first need to complete certain steps to get the green light to begin operating at the airport.
Everything seems ready for the launch of JetBlue Airways planned new service to Vero Beach from New York and Boston, but the American low cost airline still needs to complete certain steps, as Todd Scher, Vero Beach Airport Director, pointed out: “We’re only four months away from the inauguration of this flight, but JetBlue has a few steps to take first, and they haven’t done anything yet.”
“There’s a long list of boxes to check before flights begin,” explained Todd Scher, Airport Director. “And JetBlue hasn’t initiated anything yet.”
The steps to complete
So what steps does JetBlue Airways need to take to be authorized to serve its first flights to Vero Beach? Todd Scher responds:
Inform airport management in a letter of the flight start date: This must be done at least four weeks before the official scheduled date for the inaugural flight.
The letter must also contain all information about the payment methods offered to passengers for the purchase of their tickets, including information on insurance, etc.
“By meeting these conditions, JetBlue will receive a letter of authorization authorizing it to serve the airport in the small Florida town.” he emphasized.
New airport fees
In another context, the American director announced that the Vero Beach airport has reduced its monthly operating costs for airlines from $10,862 to $8,897.
