Hawaiian Airlines has decided to cancel three international routes due to low demand. These are the routes connecting its Honolulu hub to Incheon (South Korea), Fukuoka (Japan), and Boston (Massachusetts).
In a statement, Hawaiian Airlines announced that it will officially end service on these three routes on November 21st.
In the same context, this airline operator stated that the aircraft operating on these three routes will be redeployed to new routes experiencing increasing demand, such as flights to Papeete (Tahiti), Sydney (Australia) and Los Angeles (California).
Joe Sprague, CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, explained: “Ceasing our services to destinations such as Incheon, Fukuoka and Boston is a decision we made under duress due to circumstances beyond our control, including the months-long decline in demand to and from these three destinations.”
“Passengers who have already booked tickets to travel on these routes beyond November 21st have the option of changing their itinerary or requesting a refund.” he added.
Hawaiian Airlines wants to focus on other market segments
The Hawaiian airline plans to expand its services on new routes and strengthen its services on other profitable ones, such as the Honolulu-Papeete route by adding a weekly flight, bringing its total to two weekly flights to Fa’a’ā Airport starting in March 2026.
The Hawaiian State flag carrier also plans to increase its services to daily flights on the Honolulu-Sydney route starting January 31, 2026.
For Seattle and Los Angeles, Hawaiian Airlines will add a weekly flight, bringing its services to four and five daily flights, respectively, to the two U.S. destinations.
As part of its schedule adjustments, the Alaska Airlines-owned airline also announced the inauguration of a flight between Seattle and Rome and a route between London and Iceland, both including a stopover in Hawaii.
