Allegiant Air plans to introduce Wi-Fi on its flights

Passengers traveling on Allegiant Air will soon be able to connect to Wi-Fi and even watch live TV.

Allegiant Air uses Starlink

Starlink is likely the only candidate considered to equip the low-cost airline’s fleet with an internet connection.

According to Greg Anderson, CEO of Allegiant Air, in his interview with The Points Guy “Allegiant Air will begin rolling out in flight Wi-Fi on its various routes, keeping passengers connected in the sky.”

According to the CEO of the ultra-low-cost airline “discussions have begun with Starlink, and tests are already underway to assess the performance of SpaceX’s low-latency satellite internet platform, evaluate the quality of the service and its technical operation, bandwidth adjustment, usage, ergonomics, commercial offerings, etc.”

“Passengers benefit from Wi-Fi speeds (for a fee) of up to 25 Mbps per device, sufficient for streaming content, playing online games, or working; they can expect a fast and reliable connection,” he added.

Internet access on board aircraft is no longer reserved for major airlines. As we can see, even low cost carriers are now looking to attract customers with benefits other than price. For Allegiant Air, it is therefore a matter of following in the footsteps of other companies like JetBlue, which have already adopted this service.
